By now you know what the price to be paid for sin is: death. You also know that because Jesus lived a life without sin, He was able to take your place and pay the price for you. When He died on the cross, He took your punishment. But did you know He also gave you a gift?
In the same verse that tells us the “wages of sin is death,” we learn that “the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 6:23) We not only don’t have to face our punishment, we get to spend forever with God because of Jesus. The forgiveness that He buys from God makes it so that we can be adopted into God’s family.
We don’t do anything to deserve or earn this. It’s all a free gift from God that Jesus made sure we could get. Doesn’t that just show you how much God loves you? If you put your trust in Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins and repent (that means to turn away from your sins), He’ll forgive you and bring you into His family.
Let’s memorize Ephesians 2:8 the rest of this week. “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God”
